Here you will complete a WebQuest to get information on your Hypothesis.
After completing the WebQuest, complete the project below.
Be sure to look at the project requirements to make sure you are completing it correctly.
Legacy of Greece Project
You must choose from 1 of the 5 topics then if a topic has more than one choice you will choose which project you will complete.
You must ALSO complete the Minecraft project. You will be doing 2 projects.
Greek Architecture
Greek Entertainment
Greek Government
Greek Math and Science
Greek Mythology
Greek Architecture - Create a replica of a famous Greek building using cardboard and other materials from around the house. Choose from the following: Parthenon, Temple of Zeus, Stadium at Olympia, or the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. If you find another building you would like to create a replica for let me know and I will determine if it is OK for the project. You will need to provide the supplies to create your building. I have a limited supply of cardboard and other materials but those should only be used to finish up if your supplies run a little bit short. Replicas should be no smaller than 12”x12” (the size of a floor tile in the classroom).
Greek Entertainment - Create a website using Google Sites for the ancient Olympic games. Use the events that were held during that time (not modern ones like Breakdancing). Create a “Medal Count” leaderboard for the various city states and create “athletes” who competed. This is all make believe. You should have articles telling stories about the competitions, upset victories, stories about the athletes, and how each city has done. Give descriptions of the events and maybe even some mention of previous record holders.
Greek Government - Create a classroom constitution. Write a preamble, outline how the class “government” works, the responsibilities of everyone in the classroom, and list a bill of rights (5-10 rights people in the classroom have). You may use the US constitution as a guide but do not just take everything directly from it. This is for the classroom, not the country so it won’t necessarily need the same rights and responsibilities.
Greek Math and Science - Create a replica of a Greek invention or discovery. Choose from a diorama of Ptolemy’s solar system, Archimedes water lifting device, or an aqueduct. Your replica must be functional (it has to work as intended). For the solar system it needs to be moveable to show the orbit of the planets. For the other two, they must be able to actually move water as intended.
Greek Mythology - Create a board game that takes you through various places in Greek mythology. Include as many gods and mythological figures as you can. The game should be playable in 20-30 minutes so do not go crazy on “missions”. Make the game simple yet fun. Include dice/spinners, character pieces, cards that affect the game, board spaces that affect the game, and make it entertaining based on Greek mythology.

An acropolis that is the large fortified hill the city is built around and contains government buildings.
Houses inside the city.
Paved streets, fountains, statues, and other decorations.
Farms outside the city.
An aqueduct bringing water to the city.
Walls around the city for protection.
