Project Title: The Fall of the Roman Empire: Causes and Effects
Objective:
Students will research and create a multimedia presentation to explain the different causes of the fall of the Roman Empire and how these causes affected the empire's downfall.
Students will work in small groups to create a Google slideshow presentation detailing the causes of the fall of the Roman empire.
Assignment:
Each group will research the following causes of the fall of the Roman Empire:
Political corruption and leadership issues
Economic troubles (taxes, inflation, trade)
Social unrest (class divisions, loss of loyalty)
Barbarian invasions (Visigoths, Vandals, Huns)
Military problems (weakening of the Roman legions)
Division of the Empire (Eastern and Western Roman Empire)
Research Phase:
Each group will research the topics using reputable websites. you must use more than just what was provided for the WebQuest.
They should gather information about how the events contributed to the decline of the Roman Empire and include specific examples, such as events, leaders, or battles.
Explore both short-term and long-term effects of the causes on the empire.
Creating the Presentation:
After gathering information, students will create a presentation that explains the causes in detail.
Google Slideshow: Use slides to organize and display information with bullet points, images, and short video clips.
4. Slideshow requirements
Choose a theme. Changing the background color is NOT a theme
Transitions between each slide
Include both a title and conclusion slide
Include a slide (right before the conclusion slide) that lists the links for each website used
At least 1 slide for each of the causes listed above (no more than 3 for each cause)
A picture on each slide (do not make the picture the background
Your presentation should be at least 10 slides and no more than 20 slides
The project will be assessed based on the following criteria:
Research Quality (25%) – Did the group provide accurate and relevant information about each cause?
Presentation Creativity (25%) – Was the slideshow creative, engaging, and informative? Did it include visual or interactive elements?
Collaboration and Participation (25%) – Did all group members contribute to the research and presentation process?
Neatness and timeliness (25%) – Did the group meet deadlines and produce an organized slideshow free of errors?
